Twice a year (April & Nov) water thunders through the gorge as kayakers challenge their skills & spectators watch from the rim. This weekend cannot happen without the support of volunteers to help manage traffic and ensure the safety of boaters and spectators alike.
Looking for 20 to 30 volunteers to help with logistics for the release happening the second weekend of April. No experience necessary, free parking, access to explore park before or after shift, coffee and snacks provided. Great time had by all. We need volunteers on both Saturday 4/11 and Sunday 4/12. Two shifts are available: 8am-12pm and 11am - 3pm.
We are looking for volunteers in the following areas:
- Put-in Parking traffic direction
- Rafters Parking traffic direction
- Registration desk
- Top of the Stairs traffic management
- Bridge traffic management (requires moderat walking of stairs)
- Boater Platform traffic management (must be able to walk all 400 stairs down and up)
No experience necessary. We will train on the job. Perks are free parking, snacks, water and bottomless coffee. If you are a boater planning to run, please consider signing up. It will save you $5 for parking and you get dibs on positions so you have easy access to the river.
