Chattooga Fest 2026
Chattooga Fest is Foothills Paddling Club's largest paddling event of the year! Every first weekend in May, our members from South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia gather at the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River for paddling and camaraderie. The event runs from Friday evening into Sunday with activities that include social dinners, a fun raffle, and meet-up paddling groups.

Time: 5PM – 8PM
Come join the FPC family for a dinner and fellowship at Paris Mountain State Park. We’ve reserved Shelter 3 for our gathering of friends and family. Come and meet club members you don’t normally paddle with. The club will provide hamburgers, sausages, and fixings. We ask those coming to bring an appetizer, side dish, or dessert. Last names that begin with A-G please bring an appetizer; H-S a side dish; and T-Z a dessert.
As with all South Carolina Parks, there is an admission fee of $6 for adults and $3.50 for children 6-15.
Family Tuckasegee River Trip
This trip is for families with young paddlers on the Tuckasegee River is coordinated by Judy Putnam. PFDs OK, but need class II experience/skill.
Foundation of Kayaking 104- Whitewater
This class will be held on the Tuckasegee River and will cover rolling in whitewater current, strategic methods on rolling in rapids, reading water, and setting up. The clinic will also include a rescue demonstration.
Foundations Core Graduation Trip
This is the graduation trip for those who have completed the Foundation Core program. We encourage all FPC members with a class II+ skill level, to attend this trip to celebrate the accomplishments of the Foundations Core students.
Week of Rivers
Carolina Canoe Club will host their annual renowned Week of Rivers event July 1-9 based at Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground.
Middle Ocoee River Trip
Join FPC for a fun-filled day on the Middle Ocoee River!
No PFDs. Need class III+ experience/skills and a solid combat roll.

Foothills Paddling Club travels outside the Carolinas for one weekend a year, and we call it our annual East Tennessee Pilgrimage.

Tallulah Release Volunteering
Twice a year (April & Nov) water thunders through the gorge as kayakers challenge their skills & spectators watch from the rim. This weekend cannot happen without the support of volunteers to help manage traffic and ensure the safety of boaters and spectators alike.

Work on strokes at Saluda lake, incorporate gear into first hour as well.

Foundations Core Kayaking 100 Introduction: Gear
This is the introductory clinic for the Foundations Core Program. It is a 1 hour virtual session focused on all of the ins and outs of essential river kayaking gear and essentials. Before getting on the water, you need to make sure that you have everything you will need to garner success in the Foundations Core program. We will discuss all of the following: boats, paddles, PFDs, throw ropes, floatation, first aid, clothing, splash & dry gear, footwear, extras. We will also cover some basic logistics such as loading a kayak onto a car rack.
